Date Sold 12/10/2020Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Photolobby (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Man of the World, the 1931 Edward Goodman & Richard Wallace Paris France romantic blackmail crime melodrama ("Mysterious--cunning--dangerous!"; "Outcast by the powerful..."; "Living on the follies of the weak!"; "Love came too late to save him!"; "He lived by his wits--clever, charming, dangerous--but he wasn't smart enough to escape his past!"; about a pretty young American girl whose uncle is very rich, and she gets involved with a man, but it turns out he is a blackmailer using her to get at her uncle) starring William Powell, Carole Lombard, Wynne Gibson, Lawrence Gray, Guy Kibbee, and George Chandler. Note that Powell and Lombard met on the set of this movie, eventually marrying (though they divorced two years later). NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that for this movie, Paramount did something unusual, which is that in addition to making a regular lobby card set, they also apparently made a full set of photo lobby cards that were hand colored and had information about the movie printed at the bottom. We say "apparently", because we were just now consigned this photolobby, which is the first we have ever auctioned. We think it came from a full set that was created, but we can't say for sure! If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Also note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: good to very good. It appears the photolobby was once attached to a backing board, because there is uneven staining on the back of the photolobby that would be consistent with that. It appears that someone did some restoration to the photolobby, but it is difficult to say. There is some yellow in the cheek of both actors, likely caused during the photolobby being hand colored. Please look closely at the front and back of this photolobby before bidding. Learn More about condition grades
