An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) The Lady in Ermine, the 1927 James Flood silent Austria Italy historical infidelity romantic melodrama ("From the famous operetta by Rudolph Schanzer & Ernest Welisch"; a very clever story of an Italian Count and his wife living in a castle, where her grandmother once slept with a leader of the enemy so that her husband would not be executed, but when the husband found out, he killed her!; back in the present day, which was 1810, the Count goes off to war and the Austrian enemy occupies his home, and when the Count returns, he is arrested and ordered to be executed, and his wife tells the enemy leader about her grandmother and offers to make the same deal with him, and the movie ends with her going to him clad only in ermine!) starring Corinne Griffith, Einar Hanson, Ward Crane, Francis X. Bushman, and Jane Keckley. Note that the movie was remade in 1948 by Ernst Lubitsch with Betty Grable. Also, note that this is a "lost" film which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has never been folded! Some pre-1970 half-sheet posters were folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 half-sheet posters (note that most post-1970 half-sheets were NOT folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those half-sheets). Note that this item needs to be shipped in an oversized flat package. If it is a size that might ordinarily be rolled in a tube (like a half-sheet), the reason it is in this auction is specifically because we feel it either CAN'T be rolled or because we feel it would be a mistake to roll it, because it might well damage the item. In the case of the few items that could be rolled, we will roll the item in a tube if the new owner insists, but only if they accept that they can't return the item if it is damaged from being rolled. So please bear in mind that this item must be sent in a LARGE flat package (the size of the package will depend on the size of the item), and bear this added expense in mind before placing a bid on it. Condition: fair. The entire poster had darkened. There is much staining in the right 7" of the poster. There are several tears in the bottom border, including an L-shaped one running into the bottom of Griffith's figure. There are pinholes, tears, stains, and some paper loss in the other borders.
