An Autographed 3 1/4" x 8 1/4" [8 x 21 cm] Canceled Check (Learn More) Walter Winchell was a very popular, influential and legendary newspaper columnist of the 1930s and 1940s, and he served as the basis for J.J. Hunsucker in The Sweet Smell of Success (which was originally written by Ernest Lehman, who had worked for Winchell in the 1930s). Winchell also had a popular radio show, and his voice was incredibly distinctive, and when The Untouchables became a TV show, Winchell was chosen to narrate the show in his distinctive style! He passed away in 1972 at the age of 74. Important Added Info: Note that this canceled check has been personally autographed (signed) by Walter Winchell! Our consignor was a very longtime collector and dealer. In the 1970s and 1980s, he went to collectibles shows and received autographed photos and other signed items from stars who attended, and he also purchased signed items from other dealers. He passed away recently and his collection of signed items is in this set of auctions. The items do not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signatures to likely be authentic. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction.
