Robert Woolsey and a thousand other operatic voices and glorified beauties in gorgeous costumes and settings"; "The motion picture of the century... the Eighth Wonder of the World"; "Mammoth scenes in Technicolor"; "Story by Guy Bolton and Fred Thompson"; one of the earliest big budget musicals of the sound era, the first from RKO Radio; as usual, there is a throwaway plot involving Bebe Daniels as a Hispanic girl with a notorious bandit brother, which serves to tie together the many songs, and Wheeler & Woolsey are along for comic relief; the movie was a huge success, and after this movie, Wheeler & Woolsey appeared in a string of movies together throughout the 1930s) starring Bebe Daniels (in the title role as Rita Ferguson), John Boles, Bert Wheeler & Robert Woolsey (Wheeler & Woolsey), Dorothy Lee, and Don Alvarado.
