An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Jimmy the Gent, the 1934 Michael Curtiz romantic comedy ("You can't mix gilt-edged bonds with jilt-edged blondes"; about con man who runs a business tracing missing heirs of fortunes; his girlfriend leaves him because she doesn't approve of how he does business, but then she goes to work in a "legitimate" business of the same type, and the con man discovers that business is even shadier than his!) starring James Cagney (in the title role as Jimmy Corrigan), Bette Davis, Alice White, Allen Jenkins, Alan Dinehart, Arthur Hohl, and Mayo Methot. Note that this was the first pairing of James Cagney and Bette Davis, and despite their clearly having chemistry, they did not work together again for many years, in the classic "The Bride Came C.O.D.". Perhaps their egos couldn't stand having someone co-starring who was just as sensational an actor and as charismatic as they were! Also note that this movie was made when Cagney was trying to get Warner Bros. to stop casting him in the same type of movies over and over, and supposedly he had his head practically shaved in this movie as a protest! Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: good to very good. The card has some light brown water staining scattered down the left 1-2" of the card, with two circular brown stains in the bottom of the card, and some uneven discoloration in the background areas. There is some slight scuffing in Cagney's solid jacket. Otherwise, the card is in pretty nice condition, and it is completely unrestored. Given that most stains are faint, I would think that many collectors would be happy to display it as it is, or certainly, restoration could be performed (and it is quite possible that most of the stains and darkening could be removed through chemical means).
