An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) a 1953 John Wayne stock poster used by theaters to advertise re-released John Wayne cowboy western movies from Republic studio. Theaters would order this poster, which has a large blank area where the title of the specific film being shown could be added, thus getting many posters for the price of one. Important Added Info: Note that this is a "stock" poster created by Republic for use by theaters showing re-releases of their 1930s John Wayne movies in the 1950s. Theaters would order this poster, which had a large blank rectangle at lower right. Sometimes the studio would overprint the stock poster with the title of a specific movie, and sometimes they sent a series of large paper snipes with the titles of specific entries of the series, so the theater could paste in each snipe as needed, thus getting many posters for the price of one. Sometimes stock posters are found with blank snipe areas. Most collectors consider them more valuable with a printed snipe attached, or with an overprinted snipe area. Condition: very good. There are some pin holes around the edges of the poster that have been repaired with small pieces of tape from the back. The poster is otherwise in pretty nice condition.
