(Learn More) Raging Bull, the classic 1980 Martin Scorsese (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) boxing sports biography melodrama ("Based on the book by Jake LaMotta with Joseph Carter and Peter Savage"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award; loosely based on the turbulent real life of boxing champion Jake LaMotta) starring Robert De Niro (winner of the Best Actor Academy Award for this film; as Jake LaMotta; De Niro literally gained 60 pounds for the scenes where he portrayed the fat and out of shape aged boxer!), Joe Pesci (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film), Cathy Moriarty (nominated for the Best Supporting Actress Academy Award for this film; as Vickie La Motta), Frank Vincent, Nicholas Colasanto, Theresa Saldana, Mario Gallo, Frank Adonis, and Lori Anne Flax (as La Motta's first wife, Irma) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this script was consigned to us by an individual who worked as the "assistant prop boy" on this classic movie! Note that this script is the revised script draft from February 1, 1979 and that the writers are not credited on this but that the movie credits Paul Schrader and Mardik Martin. Included with the script is a 9-page "interoffice confidential" memo and also a 14-page one as well, and both are from "Chartoff-Winkler", and the first (dated July 11, 1978) is complaining that if the film is shot from Paul Schrader's script (which included a scene of LaMotta masturbating!), that the movie "could not possibly be successful". The second (dated November 14, 1978) was written after the new version of the script (massively revised by Scorsese and De Niro) was submitted, and that one says that this new version is "vastly superior to the previous two versions" (those by Schrader and Martin). Both of these provide a fascinating look at what went on during the making of this classic movie! Finally, note that the title page of the script has "Script Revised 2-1-79 M.S. R.D.N." (there was an earlier version of the script with the same notation, but with the date of 11-1-78, so obviously, Scorsese and De Niro did a second rewrite in February. Condition: good. Note that the script is completely unbound, but since the pages are numbered, it seems clear that it is complete, although there may have originally been a cover that is missing. There is a great deal of cursive handwriting on the title page, the back of the last two pages, and the back of the back cover, and it is an extremely rambling text, and we have no idea who wrote it, but it is definitely suggested dialog for a character to deliver to Joe Pesci's character in the movie!
