Note that this is the original 1917 poster (surely this is one of the most reproduced poster images there is, and also it is likely the single most recognizable poster image ever created!). Note that the U.S. Army re-used this image in subsequent wars, but they slightly changed the background color of the poster and the size. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: James Montgomery Flagg Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster was never folded. It had tiny tears down the left and right borders, with some tiny bits of paper loss in the right blank border. It had small paper loss in the top of the "T" of "WANT" in the title. It had a few tiny pinholes in the white background areas and small tears in Uncle Sam's sleeve. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
