An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked (backed onto a "Chartex"-like material; see below) One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 25 3/4" x 40" [65 x 102 cm]) (Learn More)

The Scorched Earth, the 1942 Ben Mindenburg World War II (WWII) documentary ("Horror! Terror! Absolutely true!"; "The rape of China by the Japs!"; about atrocities committed by Japanese in China; intended to serve as propaganda to inflame U.S. moviegoers against the Japanese) narrated by Cliff Howell
If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that we have only auctioned this poster once before, and that was nine years ago! Also note that this poster has been mounted onto a "Chartex"-like material (we are not 100% certain it is Chartex, but if not, it is something very similar. Chartex is a backing paper that is a linen-like paper, similar to the material you line drawers with. It serves its function well in that the poster is preserved, which is why many restorers other than movie poster restorers use it, but it is very difficult to impossible to remove from the back of the poster. SO DO NOT BID ON THIS POSTER UNLESS YOU CAN ACCEPT THAT IT LIKELY CAN'T BE REMOVED FROM ITS BACKING, AND WILL NEED TO BE KEPT AS IT IS (although it is not harming the poster, and it enables it to be displayed). Also note that this poster has been trimmed and it now measures 25 3/4" x 40" [65 x 102 cm].

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was tri-folded only, and someone trimmed off parts of the blank borders so that it measured 25 3/4" x 40". It had some pinholes around the edges and a few within the image. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to backing. Someone mounted it to a Chartex-like material (see above) with no excess and no restoration. As we noted above, it would be very difficult to remove from the backing, but it absolutely can be displayed and enjoyed as it is.
