An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Half-Sheet Movie Poster (1/2sh; measures 22" x 28" [56 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) The Charge of the Light Brigade, the classic 1936 Michael Curtiz English-in-India romantic love triangle Crimean War action thriller ("Into the Valley of Death rode the six hundred"; very loosely based on the poem by Alfred Lord Tennyson; Flynn is an English officer in India, and the Indians massacre a group of English soldiers, and then retreat to their stronghold, assuming the English will not dare attempt to retaliate, but Flynn's character ignores his orders and leads his men on a suicide mission!) starring Errol Flynn, Olivia De Havilland, Patric Knowles, Henry Stephenson, Nigel Bruce, Donald Crisp, David Niven, Robert Barrat, J. Carrol Naish, Scotty Beckett, and C. Henry Gordon NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have never auctioned this half-sheet before! Also note that this poster has never been folded! Some pre-1970 half-sheet posters were folded twice horizontally at the poster exchange, while some were not. It can be difficult to find an unfolded example of many pre-1970 half-sheet posters (note that most post-1970 half-sheets were NOT folded, so they are pretty much only found unfolded, and therefore this does not apply to those half-sheets). Condition: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It has darkened somewhat, typical of Warner Bros linen posters of this period, but not as much as most linen half-sheets from this period, and it is not really fragile, which is unusual for Warner Bros. linen half-sheets. It had pinholes, tears, and some small paper loss in the borders. It had a pinhole and a small tear in Flynn's cheek and three pinholes in De Havilland's cheek. It had a tear and stains in the bottom right of De Havilland's hair. It had a few pinholes scattered in the rest of the poster and small paper loss in the top left of the background, above the "n" of "Warner". Someone many years ago performed restoration to the above defects without backing the poster. It is likely that after they were done with the restoration, the poster displayed really well, but over the years since, the restoration has aged differently from the rest of the poster, and much of it (especially the border restoration) is very noticeable. But the poster could still absolutely be displayed as it is (because the border areas will not show when it is framed). If I owned this poster, I would have a talented restorer remove the old restoration and paperback the poster, and after restoration by a top professional, the poster will display wonderfully, and it will likely have little restoration, except in the border areas and in the exact defects within the image described above. I went into great detail on this poster because of its rarity and value. Please read all of the above carefully and look closely at our super-sized image before bidding on this really cool and really rare poster. Learn More about condition grades
