An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Italian Movie Poster (measures 39" x 55" [99 x 140 cm]) (Learn More) Kri-Kri Senza Testa (released in the England as "Headless Bloomer"), the 1913 Raymond Dandy Italian silent horror comedy short. If anyone knows more about this specific film, please e-mail us and we will post it here. This was one of a series of movies with director/star Dandy as a tragic clown, and the movies often contain surreal scenes and special effects that were advanced for the time, including reflections coming out of mirrors, people decapitating themselves, etc.. The series starred Raymond Dandy (in the title role as Kri-Kri/Bloomer), Gildo Bocci, and Lea Giunchi. Note that Dandy (born Raymond Francois Emile Marie Pierre Frau) began his career as a circus clown and acrobat, first in Tunisia, and then in France, where he performed in vaudeville circuits. In 1912 he started as comic actor at the Cines studios, establishing this internationally popular character of Kri Kri (known as "Bloomer" in English-speaking countries), and his movies were FAR ahead of their time, predicting a transition from the highly structured world of the 19th century into a new world for the 20th century. Also, Romeo Marchetti (who created the Italian art for Kri Kri films) was well known in the first half of the 20th century, and he founded and contributed to multiple satirical magazines and newspapers. The Societa Italiana Cines (often known simply as Cines) was an Italian film company specializing in production and distribution of films which was founded in 1906. Artist: Romeo Marchetti Important Added Info: Note that we have never auctioned ANY movie paper for this film before, and this is a really wonderful poster, and it certainly makes us wish we knew more about the film! We can't recall ever seeing ANY movie poster with this type of shocking image, and it was surely shocking in 1913, over 110 years ago, and it would still be shocking in today's world! Note that this is an extremely rare "country of origin" poster from before World War II. Virtually no Italian posters survive from before World War II since apparently there were many paper shortages in Europe during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all posters from before and World War II, and also from during the war, and the first few years afterwards. Finally, note that it was printed in 2 sections designed to overlap. It is roughly the same size as a modern day Italian one-panel, which is printed in one piece, and given that it was printed in two sections, we don't want to call it that (but this probably explains why they are called "2-foglio" in Italy, because they were originally printed in two sections, before they had printing presses able to print them in one section)! Condition: fair. The poster has separation on parts of several folds and there are tears on the back of the middle left of the poster with some tiny paper loss in that area. There is much uneven darkening scattered in the poster and staining on the back. Obviously this wonderful poster can be "rescued" by a talented restorer, but please bear in mind its very significant defects before bidding. Learn More about condition grades
