An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Mystery Street, the 1950 John Sturges Massachusetts crime forensic science murder film noir ("Story by Leonard Spigelgass"; "Screen play by Sydney Boehm and Richard Brooks"; about a cop in a small Massachusetts town, and after a body is discovered on a beach, he goes to a Harvard professor to help him unravel what happened to her) starring Ricardo Montalban, Sally Forrest, Bruce Bennett, Elsa Lanchester, Marshall Thompson, Betsy Blair, Ralph Dumke, and Jan Sterling. Note that this movie was decades ahead of its time in its approach to crime solving, and many consider it the first movie to thoroughly utilize "C.S.I." techniques in solving a murder. Both director John Sturges and co-screenwriter Richard Brooks would go on to long and illustrious careers, making many movies that are highly regarded! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good. This poster has been linenbacked, but it was not very well done, either because the restorer did not do a very good job, or because the years since it has been linenbacked have not been kind to the poster. Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. Generally, it had areas of paper loss in the right of the top foldline and several tears in the left of the top foldline, with minor wear on the other folds and in the borders. The poster was not that well backed, because you can see signs of the above general defects and the restoration of the defects (in some cases, as should be immediately evident in our image, the linenbacker did no restoration to some of the defects). I would think few collectors would want to display it as it is, without someone performing some additional restoration. Certainly, a talented restorer could perform additional restoration (either with or without re-backing the poster), but it might be fairly expensive to have this done, so bear that in mind before you place a bid.
