Son of Frankenstein, the classic 1939 Rowland V. Lee Universal monster horror thriller sequel ("Mysterious! Weird! Horrifying!"; "The greatest fear figures in screen history... all in Universal's New cavalcade of horror!"; the third Universal "Frankenstein" movie) starring Basil Rathbone (in the title role as the original Dr. Frankenstein's son), Boris Karloff (in the title role as the Frankenstein monster), Bela Lugosi (as Ygor), Lionel Atwill, Josephine Hutchinson, and Donnie Dunagan (as Peter von Frankenstein)

Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this 1939 first release title card, and that was 31 years ago (it was in a group of 4 cards that sold for $6,900)! Note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has.

Condition: good to very good. The card has a tiny pair of staple holes in the top right blank corner and a few tiny pinholes around the edges. It has a 1" scratch in the upper right that started in the blank border and extends into the top right of the last "N" of the title. It has creases and small tears in the top blank border and two small tears in the right blank border. It has a scuff in the lower right, in Lugosi's shoulder, and a smaller scuff with tiny surface paper loss in the background above that. It has a few faint smudges and scuffs in the rest of the image. It has faint staining that starts in the background to the right of the title and extends down into the blank border. It has a brown stain in the right of the bottom border that extends up into the credits. There is faint staining over much of the word "HUTCHINSON", and directly above and below it, as though there was once a snipe in that area. It has a "PENTAGRAM PICTURES" stamp in the left of the bottom border (this was the company owned by Blackie Seymour, a legendary early dealer of horror material). Note that this card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back. In our opinion, the above defects are relatively minor and this incredible rare card can absolutely be displayed and enjoyed as it is, or certainly, any degree of restoration could be performed, with or without backing the card.
