An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded French One-Panel "Grande" Movie Poster (1p; measures 39" x 59" [99 x 150 cm]) (Learn More) Willy et les Parisiens (released in the U.S. in 1914 as "Willy and the Parisians"), the 1913 Joseph Faivre French silent juvenile slapstick comedy short (about a young boy whose oafish cousins come to visit, and to get them to leave, he puts pepper in their eggs and lime in their drinks, and he brings the farm animals into the house, which does the job) starring William Sanders (in the title role as Willy). Note that William Sanders was born in 1906, and made his first comedy short in 1910, playing a character called "Willy" (sometimes referred to as "Willie"). These comedies were very much like the later Our Gang comedies, filled with slapstick situations of all kinds. Surprisingly, Sanders was able to continue in the role for the next six years, making 71 of these Willy comedies, during which he aged from 4 to 10, at which point he retired. We don't know what became of him after that, but he lived all the way to 1990! If anyone knows more about him, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Artist: Lauro Important Added Info: Note that ANY movie paper from this movie is incredibly rare. We have never auctioned even a single movie paper item from this movie until we received this French one-panel, which is a "country of origin" poster for this French movie, and we have only auctioned one other poster from any of the 71 Willy movies! Note that this is an extremely rare pre-World War II French poster! Virtually no French posters survive from before, during, or right after World War II. Apparently there were many paper shortages in France during World War II, resulting in the destruction of almost all pre-World War II posters! Condition: fair to good. There are pinholes, tears, and paper loss around the edges, and some light stains scattered in parts of the poster. After linenbacking by a talented professional, the poster will display really well, but bear the above in mind before bidding on this poster. Learn More about condition grades
