An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Officer 666, the 1914 Frank Powell silent police crime comedy ("The uproarious melo-dramatic farce"; "In Five Parts"; "From the play by arrangement with Messrs. George M. Cohan and Sam H. Harris") starring Howard Estabrook, Sydney Seaward, Dan Moyles (in the title role as Phelan/Officer 666), Harold Howard, and Makoto Inokuchi NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Condition: good to very good. The poster had was folded with two evenly spaced vertical foldlines, and the regular horizontal folds. There were tears, creases, stains, and some paper loss in the bottom left crossfold, which falls in the girl at lower left's hair and also in the top left crossfold, which falls in the background above the man at left's hair. There were some creases, tears, stains, and tiny paper loss on some other foldlines and some water staining down the left border. The blank borders of the poster had creases, tears, and areas of paper loss. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The person who did the restoration put new blank white paper over all the borders to even out the appearance (but the small writing at the bottom of the poster was not covered over). This is a common technique used by several top restorers. It is done so well that the majority of collectors are not even aware it has been done, and many do not feel it to be a significant detraction (since it is only blank white area). The poster was pretty well backed, but the restorer did not address the water stains down the left side of the image (which are not that distracting). Learn More about condition grades
