An Original Vintage Theatrical Deluxe 7 1/4" x 10" [18 x 25 cm] Movie Still (Learn More) Gilbert Roland (born Luis Antonio Damaso de Alonso) was a Mexican actor from the 1920s to the 1980s. His father was a bullfighter, and he planned to be the same, but he caught the acting bug! He got his screen name by combining the names of his favorite actors, John Gilbert and Ruth Roland! Because of his Mexican heritage, he often played "ethnic" roles, but he was a leading man in the 1920s, and continued to have starring roles for decades, and he seemingly never aged, looking much the same in the 1950s as he had in the 1920s. And he lived to age 89, passing away in 1994, while almost all of his contemporary male stars passed away in their 50s and 60s (and he, like almost all of them, was a heavy smoker). He must have had incredible genes! Some of his movies include: The Last Train from Madrid, Malaya, and The Sea Hawk Important Added Info: Note that this still has been trimmed and it now measures 7 1/4" x 10" [18 x 25 cm]. Also note that this is a deluxe still printed on double weight paper stock. Condition: good. The left and right borders were trimmed off and there are some tiny paint enhancements in the upper left and right of Roland's hair, but they are mostly only noticeable when the still is tilted to the light.
