An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Six-Sheet Movie Poster (6sh; measures 81" x 81" [206 x 206 cm]) (Learn More)

Celebrity, the 1928 Tay Garnett silent boxing sports newspaper journalism romantic melodrama ("From the stage play by Willard Keefe"; a clever story that has twists on the standard boxing plots that were old even in 1928; the young boxer is managed by a man who hires a mother and daughter to pose as the boxer's beloved mother and girlfriend, and he hires an ex-newspaperman to write poems that the boxer, Kid Reagan, signs his name to, and that gets him a lot of publicity, which earns him a title match; but the boxer falls in love with his pretend girlfriend, and his manager convinces her to walk out on him just before the championship fight, but that causes him to want to win even more, and he does win the fight, and he has won the girl for real) starring Lina Basquette, Robert Armstrong, Clyde Cook, Dot Farley, and Jack Perry. Note that it is probably hard to believe for those who saw Robert Armstrong in King Kong in 1933, where he played the aged movie director, but in this movie, he is the young boxer, Kid Reagan, and silent comedian Clyde Cook plays his manager!

What IS linenbacking? Learn More

Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had tiny paper loss at just a few crossfolds and a very few creases, scuffs, and tiny tears on parts of some foldlines. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed. It was slightly roughly handled, and there are some creases in the bottom center of the poster in the bottom 6", but they are not very noticeable, and otherwise, the poster is in excellent condition, especially considering it is 87 years old!
