A 1957 Re-Release Theatrical Folded Russian Movie Poster (measures 24 3/4" x 33" [63 x 84 cm]) (Learn More)

Die Morder Sind Unter Uns (released in the U.S. as "Murderers Among Us" and released in other English-speaking countries as "The Murderers Are Among Us"), the 1946 Wolfgang Staudte German effects of World War II (WWII) melodrama (this was the first German film after WWII, and it was filmed in what became East Germany, and shot in the ruins of Berlin; the story concerns a pretty concentration camp survivor who must share a place with a former Nazi officer, and both must look to put the past behind them, as difficult as that would be under such incredibly trying circumstances) starring Hildegard Knef, Elly Burgmer, Erna Sellmer, Hilde Adolphi, and Marlise Ludwig. Note that this movie is little remembered today except by film buffs, but it is not only very historically significant (for being the very first post-World War II German film), but it also shows much influence from both the German expressionist movies of the 1920s and also the great Fritz Lang movies of the 1930s, especially "M". It had a lot of influence on the movies made in the next few years about life in Italy and Germany directly after World War II. First release posters on this movie are incredibly rare! We have only auctioned two of them, from Yugoslavia and Argentina, and we have never seen a first release German poster!
