Flight for Freedom, the 1943 Lothar Mendes fictional female pilot airplane aviation biographical melodrama ("The story that was Hushed before Pearl Harbor! This is the stirring drama of a girl flier about whom the world wondered when she disappeared in the forbidden waters of the Jap-held islands. Now you can know the secret of her mysterious mission... and the two loves that tore at her heart!"; "Only you can do this job for the Navy!"; "The Japs would suspect a man... But you, a famous woman flier, can get away with it. Of course, it's hazardous, but our country's future may depend on your success. For years the Japs have fortified these islands to make war on us. We must know the scope of these preparations. That's where you come in. Somewhere between New Guinea and Hawaii -"; "Secrets... that couldn't be told before Pearl Harbor! She risked everything give America the jump on the Japs!"; "So that we could blast the Japs out of the Pacific...this girl risked everything!"; "Before Pearl Harbor, officialdom said: 'That story is dynamite! Don't dare tell a word of it.'...Now you can see it on the screen. Now you can know the secret of this girl's mysterious mission over the Jap-mandated islands. Now you can live the flaming adventure drama of her courage, and of the two loves that tore at her heart!"; based on the life of Amelia Earhart, with a speculative conclusion about her disappearance, namely that she was on a super secret mission for the Navy Air Force, and that they never revealed the "truth" after her disappearance!), starring Rosalind Russell, Fred MacMurray, Herbert Marshall, Eduardo Ciannelli (billed as "Edward Ciannelli"), and Walter Kingsford

Condition: very good. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had very minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were well restored, OR it had some minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!).

The poster had tiny paper loss at the crossfolds. There was an NSS number stamp on the back of the poster in red. It somewhat bleeds through in MacMurray's cheek, and his chin, and in the area between the stars' chins. Other than the above defects, the poster had some fold and border wear. The person who restored the poster pretty much just mounted the poster, which worked fine, except the bleed through at center is still visible (although it is not very distracting). Any good restorer could touch up that area without re-backing the poster. The person who linenbacked the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges.
