Cheburashka is a character in children's literature from a 1966 story by Soviet writer Eduard Uspensky. He is also the protagonist of the stop-motion animated films by Roman Kachanov, the first film of which was made in 1969. Note that Roman Abelevich Kachanov was a Soviet animator who worked primarily in the stop-motion animation technique. He was born in the town of Smolensk in 1921 and joined the Red Army in 1939. He was a tail gunner before being injured in a crash, and after he recovered, he served in the airborne forces as a parachute instructor and took part in special operations behind enemy lines. After he left the military, Kachanov studied animation and went on to direct The Mitten, Crocodile Gena and The Mystery of the Third Planet, all of which have become Russian classics If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
