Exposition Militaire (literally translates to "Military Exposition"), the 1889 French poster promoting the celebration of the French Army's one hundred year anniversary, held at the Palais des Beaux-Arts in Lille, France. Note that this poster features a pile of military flags, weapons, and uniforms!

Artist: L.L. d'apres Henri Louis Dupray

Important Added Info: Note that this poster has "L.L. d'apres Henri Louis Dupray" for the artist. This means that it is not from the very first printing of the poster or not from the first use of the art. We would think it means that this poster was probably quickly reprinted, and that the "L.L. d'apres" was added for that reprint. Exactly when is it from? We would guess the 1890s, and it certainly has a great deal of age, and there is zero chance it is any sort of later reproduction. If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Condition: fair to good. The poster is very fragile and has separation, tears, and some tiny paper loss on parts of many folds and in the borders. The poster is in urgent need of expert professional restoration. But the poster is mostly "all there", and after linenbacking by a talented professional, the poster will look fantastic, and it will likely require little paint restoration within the image. However, please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept its defects described above or are willing to pay to have them properly restored!
