An Original Vintage German Campaign Book (measures 8 3/4" x 11 3/4" [22 x 30 cm]; 36 pages) (Learn More) Terra Filme 1940-41, the 1940 German campaign book featuring art and information about upcoming film productions from "Terra Filmkunst" (filmkunst means "cinematic art"), one of the German studios making movies at this time. We know that UFA made elaborate yearbooks (hardcover and softcover) at this time, and Terra Film did as well, and in 1940-41, there was both an 8 3/4" x 11 3/4" softcover campaign book with 36 pages and a small 6 1/4" x 10" version with 24 pages, and the two have very similar ads, but not exactly the same, and of course, there is a great size difference. Some of the movies advertised in this campaign book include Der Kommandant, Fur Die Katz, Achtung! Feind Hort Mit!, but the highlight of the larger version of the campaign book is a full-page ad for Jud Suss, the virulent anti-Semitic anti-Jewish movie made in 1941 (there is not an ad for it in the smaller version, but its name is included in a list of movies, so either the small version predates or postdates the larger version). It seems likely they are even more rare than the extremely rare hardcover German campaign books that were published each year in the 1930s and early 1940s. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this German campaign book! This is the larger version described above (we are also auctioning the smaller version, in a separate auction), and as noted above, it has the great full-page ad for Jud Suss that is not in the smaller version! Also note that German campaign books from the heart of World War II are incredibly rare (both because they likely didn't make too many, but also because surely most were destroyed right after the war.
