An Unfolded S2 Re-Creation Poster (measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) The Jazz Singer, the classic 1927 Alan Crosland musical biography ("Warner Bros. Supreme Triumph"; "Based upon the play by Samson Raphaelson as produced on the spoken stage by Lewis & Gordon and Sam H. Harris") starring Al Jolson (as Jakie Rabinowitz/Jack Robin), May McAvoy, Warner Oland (as Cantor Rabinowitz), Eugenie Besserer (as Sara Rabinowitz, Jolson's mother), Otto Lederer (as Moisha Yudelson), Robert Gordon (as the young Jakie Rabinowitz), Cantor Joseff Rosenblatt (a real life Cantor who was hired to perform the service in the movie), and Myrna Loy (in an early uncredited role!). Note that this movie is justifiably famous as the first "all talking" movie (even though it was only partially a talkie). Al Jolson was well known as "the world's greatest entertainer", and Samson Raphaelson loosely based his source stage play on Jolson's own life, and George Jessel played the lead on Broadway. When Warner Brothers went to make the first "talking picture" (the movie is widely referred to as the "first talking picture", although it was not "all talking"), they felt that "The Jazz Singer" with its music and strong dramatic content would make a perfect choice, but they went with Jolson in the lead role instead of Jessel. They were acquired by a collector when these posters were first created, and that collector has now consigned them to us. This is a rare opportunity to choose from a large number of these posters at one time, and of course many of them have incredibly striking images (see below for more about these posters). Note that this poster is from the "S2 Art Group". This company bought 100-year-old lithograph presses, completely refurbished them, and created stone slabs that allowed them to make nearly perfect replicas of classic movie posters (and in some cases making a stone litho version of a poster that was not originally a stone litho!). They were printed in exactly the same way the posters were originally printed (re-creating them down to the finest detail within the art, and even including the tiny writing from the bottom of the poster). These posters were printed between 1997 and 2003, and were NOT printed when the movies were originally released. Each has super high quality reproduction on quality paper and most measure 27" x 41" (a very few measure smaller and those are clearly noted). (Learn More). IMPORTANT! Note that the S2 Art Group also had a lower quality 24" x 36" series of one-sheet re-creations that retailed for $49 each, but are NOT stone lithographs. The re-creation offered here one of the high quality re-creations this company did, and is a true stone lithograph. It will look incredible on the new owner's wall, and it will sell for a fraction of the cost of the first release poster with the same image. Condition: very good to fine. The S2 are-creation is in excellent condition and it displays quite well!! Learn More about condition grades
