Der Hauptmann von Kopenick (released in the U.S. as "The Captain From Kopenick", or "The Captain From Koepenick"), the 1956 Helmut Kautner German Prussia military comedy melodrama ("3 days that shook the world with laughter!"; "Zuckmayer's zany comedy about the self--appointed Captain and the guffaws heard 'round the world!"; about a real life 1906 incident where a petty thief in Germany wanted to travel to his home town, but he couldn't get the visa necessary, so he came up with the wild idea of impersonating the German official who could grant the visa, so that he could "give one to himself"!; but the story got stranger when he still couldn't get the visa, but the people in the town gave him a lot of money to take to Germany with him!; he was arrested and put on trial, but the whole matter made Germany look ridiculous, and he was let off with a light sentence) starring Heinz Ruhmann, Martin Held, Hannelore Schroth, Willy A. Kleinau, and Leonard Steckel
