An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) The Case of the Curious Bride, the 1935 Michael Curtiz courtroom lawyer legal crime mystery thriller (based on the Perry Mason series of books by Erle Stanley Gardner) starring Warren William (as Perry Mason), Margaret Lindsay, Donald Woods, Claire Dodd (as Della Street), Allen Jenkins, Philip Reed, and Errol Flynn (in a bit part). Note that Warner Bros. purchased the rights to these characters in 1934, and the first movie in the series was "The Case of the Howling Dog" starring Warren William. There were three more Perry Mason movies that Warren William starred in (oddly, a different actress played Della Street in each of the four films). Also, in this movie, Donald Woods played a minor character, but in 1937, he would get to play Perry Mason! Allen Jenkins had played Perry Mason's adversary in the very first Perry Mason movie, "The Case of the Howling Dog", but here he plays "Spudsy", who is a comic detective, replacing Paul Drake from the books (and he repeated this role in the next movie). Finally, Errol Flynn plays a corpse on a slab earlier in this movie, and then late in the movie, he is in a two-minute flashback scene, and this is one of his first real roles! There were two other movies in the 1930s with other actors in the lead role (Ricardo Cortez and Donald Woods), and then of course, there was the classic TV show from 1957 to 1966 with Raymond Burr playing Perry Mason. Important Added Info: Note that we have a scan of both the front and the back of this lobby card, which should greatly help you see what defects it has. Condition: fair. The card was likely found under a floor, because it had a great deal of staining on the front and back. Some talented restorer was able to remove most of the staining from the front (without backing the card), but there remains much clear surface residue from the staining on the front of the card. You are not that aware of it when you look at the card straight on, but when you tilt it to the light, you see it is scattered over the entire face of the card. There are also a few pinholes around the edges and two tape repairs on the back of the bottom of the card, where there were two tears. Obviously, one would prefer to find this great card without these defects, but we don't know if another example of it exists, and it does display pretty well when looked at head on, which is how everyone looks at a displayed card. Still, please bear in mind the above significant defects before bidding on this card. Learn More about condition grades
