Note that the year prior to this movie, famed screenwriters Ben Hecht and Charles MacArthur independently produced, wrote, and directed "Crime Without Passion", an unusual movie starring Claude Rains. They followed it with this equally unusual movie, and they got legendary playwright Noel Coward to play the lead role! This movie was one of four that they directed and wrote between 1934 and 1936.
