An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Style B Half-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 22" x 28") (Learn More) Abbott and Costello Meet Frankenstein (released in other English-speaking countries as "Abbott and Costello Meet the Ghosts"), the 1948 Charles T. Barton monster horror spoof comedy ("It's a grand New idea for Fun!"; the eighth Universal Frankenstein movie, and this time they added their #1 comedy team to both liven up the series, and to inject comedy; many people fondly remember this as their favorite of the 1940s Frankenstein movies!; "Jeepers! The Creepers are after Bud and Lou!"; "The laughs are MONSTERous! Bud and Lou are in a stew when they tangle with the Titans of Terror!"; "The monsters of menace vs the masters of Mirth!") starring Bud Abbott, Lou Costello (Abbott and Costello), Lon Chaney Jr. ("The Wolf Man played by Lon Chaney"), Bela Lugosi (returning as Dracula after being long absent from the role; "Dracula played by Bela Lugosi"), Glenn Strange (in the title role, playing the Frankenstein monster; "The Monster played by Glenn Strange"), Lenore Aubert, Jane Randolph, Frank Ferguson, Charles Bradstreet, and Vincent Price (in a cute cameo, as the voice of The Invisible Man at the end of the movie!) Important Added Info: Note that this poster was machine folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time and will be sent rolled in a tube. Condition: good to very good. The poster was folded by hand in both directions and there are creases along both foldlines. There is a series of small horizontal tears in the vertical foldline (but only the tiniest of paper loss in a couple of the tears). There were ten horizontal tears in the left border, but none of them extend past the white background area, and all have been repaired with conservation tape from the back. There was a 1 1/2" tear in the right of the bottom border that extends into the edge of the brown background that was repaired with tape from the back and a 1" diagonal tear in the lower right blank border that is entirely in the white background area and was also repaired with tape from the back. There are a few faint creases, scuffs, and smudges scattered through the image and a tiny dot stain near the center of the poster (in the green background just above the word "presents"). Obviously, this poster has a lot of minor defects, but most of them are in the borders and along the folds, and it is very fortunate that the person who laid out the poster put virtually nothing of importance in the foldlines, so virtually all of the defects are in minor areas. I would think many collectors could happily display this great poster just as it is, and certainly, any talented restorer could paperback the poster, and touch up its minor defects, and this rare poster would look fantastic!
