An Undated (probably 1982) Re-Release Unfolded Autographed Style A Video Rental Store Poster (measures 27 1/4" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Star Wars (now known as "Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope"), the classic 1977 George Lucas (nominated for the Best Director Academy Award for this film) outer space fantasy action adventure science fiction (sci-fi) epic ("A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away..."; "George Lucas, the man who brought you American Graffiti now brings you an adventure as big as the cosmos itself: Star Wars, the story of a boy, a girl, and a universe. It's a spectacle light years ahead of its time from 20th Century Fox."; "Written and Directed by George Lucas"; nominated for the Best Picture Academy Award) starring Mark Hamill (as Luke Skywalker), Harrison Ford (as Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (as Princess Leia), Peter Cushing (as Grand Moff Tarkin), Alec Guinness (nominated for the Best Supporting Actor Academy Award for this film; as Obi-Wan Kenobi), Anthony Daniels (as C-3PO), James Earl Jones (as the voice of Darth Vader), David Prowse (billed as "Dave Prowse"; as the man inside the Darth Vader suit!), Peter Mayhew (as Chewbacca), Kenny Baker (as R2-D2), and Phil Brown (as Uncle Owen) NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Tom Jung Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been personally autographed (signed) by FIVE people: Carrie Fisher, Peter Mayhew, Richard LeParmentier, Rusty Goffe, AND David Ankrum! Also note that the item comes with a "certificate of authenticity" from James Spence Authenticatoin (JSA). Also note that this poster looks very similar to the original theatrical release one-sheet, and is in fact often sold as an original theatrical one-sheet (or even a 30x40). But this poster was made in the early 1980s (probably 1982) and it was issued to coincide with the first video release of Star Wars. This video poster is different in that it is printed on heavy stock paper and has "Lucasfilm" at left below the artwork instead of "20th Century Fox". Note that this special "all Star Wars" auction began with a phone call from a VERY long time collector of Star Wars posters! He told us that he had reached a point in his life where he was wanting to sell his collection, and he asked if we could do it all at one time. Because he had 174 posters (including many of the most rare and desirable ones), we were happy to comply, but we told him that we would like to also add additional rare Star Wars posters from other collectors, and he agreed, and after we were consigned an additional 117 posters and related items, we have our auction! This item is one of the additional 117 items that we were consigned from other collectors. They REALLY came through with wonderful additional items that really add to the overall auction! If you are interested in knowing more about the person who assembled the amazing collection of 174 posters in this auction, CLICK HERE to read a written history of how he came to assemble this amazing collection! Know that we are not "autograph experts"! We strongly suggest that all bidders do whatever research they want to do about the autographs BEFORE placing bids (such as comparing the signatures to other known signatures found on the Internet). But we also know how hard it is to be certain of an autograph's authenticity when you are not seeing the item in person. So, to make certain that we only have satisfied buyers, we will give anyone who purchases any of these a 30 day return privilege (from the date the auction closes) on any of these autographed items, and of course, that gives every buyer plenty of time to be 100% certain that they have purchased a genuine autograph! But realize that you can't return items AFTER 30 days (from the auction's closing), so be sure to do whatever checking and authenticating you need to do either before the auction ends, or within the 30 days. Condition: good. The poster was never folded. It was displayed in a video store, and it darkened somewhat. It had tape in each blank corner at a diagonal holding it to a wall, and the tape was later removed, causing those areas to not be darkened like the rest of the poster. There is paper loss in the bottom right corner, with some creases and tiny stains around the edges, and a 1/2" tear in the left blank border. There are a few creases in the top right background area and a small stain in the bottom center of the image, to the left of the title. Obviously, one could choose to have this poster restored, but others might prefer to display it as is (and many of the defects are in the borders, so they will not show if the poster is framed).
