Artist: Boris Grinsson Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of the first release French poster, and the last one sold for $1,885. However, there is a difference between this poster and the previous two examples. This one has "JAMES BOND 007 est de retour!" in the top left corner and the other two did not. However, in every other way, including the printer's information, the two posters are exactly the same. We have consulted with the greatest French experts and they believe that when this movie first played in France in 1964, the poster was released both with and without this tagline (it is possible that one predates the other by a small amount of time, but if so, no one knows). Please be aware of this difference before you place a bid on this extremely desirable poster! What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had minor wear on both folds. It had a partial second vertical fold 1" to the right of the regular one, starting in the top border and running to between Connery's eyes, with some light scuff marks on that area. It had a scuff mark above the "et" at the top center of the lower credits area. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did little restoration to the defects described above. Learn More about condition grades
