(Learn More) Curd Jurgens (billed as "Curt Jurgens" after he wisely changed his name after moving to the U.S.) was a German actor from the 1930s to the 1980s. Some of his movies include: The Longest Day, The Enemy Below, and Assassination Attempt. He passed away in 1982 at the age of 66. Important Added Info: Note that the letter AND the photo have BOTH been personally autographed (signed) by Curt Jurgens! He was sent a fan letter from a U.S. fan in 1958, and he was obviously "deeply touched" (as he put it), because he not only sent back a personal signed letter on his own stationery, but he also included a photo which he had used to send to fans in Germany, but he mentions that he should get a different picture for U.S. fans, and certainly, that was accurate, because he is billed as "Curd" on the photo. But he also inscribed the photo and signed it, so the winner of this auction gets TWO signed items (the photo and the letter). Also note that this auction also includes the mailing envelope this letter and photo were originally mailed in. Our consignor is a longtime collector who purchased this signed item from a reputable dealer. He does not have a certificate of authenticity, but we believe the signature to likely be authentic. As is true of all the signed items we are currently auctioning, we give every buyer 30 days in which to review what they purchased and they can return any item as long as it is within 30 days of the end of the auction. On non-signed items, we give a "lifetime guarantee" on everything we auction, but on signed items, we give the above modified guarantee of 30 days after the auction closes.
