An Original Vintage Theatrical Unfolded Window Card Movie Poster (WC; measures 14" x 22" [36 x 56 cm]) (Learn More) Fazil, the 1928 Howard Hawks Paris France romantic royalty clash-of-cultures melodrama ("Desire under the Palms and along Parisian Boulevards"; "Story by Pierre Frondaie"; about an Arab prince in love with a Parisian woman, and they can't be happy in either setting, because of the huge differences) starring Charles Farrell (in the title role as Prince Fazil), Greta Nissen, Mae Busch, Vadim Uraneff, and Tyler Brooke. Note that the movie was once considered lost, but has since been found. Also, apparently there was no natural chemistry between Farrell and Nissen, but director Hawks was able to get them to pretend in a way that fooled audiences. He signed Nissen to play the lead in his next movie, Howard Hughes' "Hell's Angels", but it was shot as a silent, and then it was decided that it would be re-shot as a sound movie, which eliminated Nissen due to her heavy Norwegian accent, and she was fired and replaced by Jean Harlow, and the rest, as they say, is history! Often window cards would be folded across the middle, because that would make them 11" x 14", and they could then be sent with standard folded posters. Most collectors put an added value on a window card that has never been folded. Condition: fair to good. There is light water staining that is 4" to 5" wide down the center of the card and across the top and bottom. There are also nail holes and stains around the edges, with some creases and tears. This is the sort of window card that responds really well to professional restoration. It is likely that much or all of the light staining and other defects can be removed through chemical means, after which the card will look fantastic, but please bear this cost in mind before placing a bid.
