An Original 1986 Vintage 8 1/4" x 10" [21 x 25 cm] Television Still (Learn More) Bret Maverick, the 1981 - 1982 Ivan Nixon, William Wiard, & Leo Penn television (TV) cowboy western gambling action adventure series starring James Garner (reprising his title role as Bret Maverick!), Ed Bruce, Ramon Bieri, Richard Hamilton, John Shearin, and David Knell. This was a revival of the classic 1957-1962 TV series "Maverick", again starring James Garner. He had just finished starring in a second very successful TV show, "The Rockford Files", and during the run of that show (1974-1980), a Maverick movie had been made without him (in 1978), called "The New Maverick". This show only lasted for one season, and that is a shame, especially since James Garner said that had it been renewed for a second season, they would have added Jack Kelly to the cast, reprising his role as Bret's brother, Bart. In 1986, a TV movie was made by combining the first two episodes of this show, and it was called "Bret Maverick: The Lazy Ace", which had been the name of those first two episodes (part 1 and part 2).
