An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Six-Sheet Movie Poster (6sh; measures 81" x 81" [206 x 206 cm]) (Learn More)

Killer Ape, the 1953 Spencer Gordon Bennet science fiction (sci-fi) jungle action adventure thriller ("Torrid, thundering jungle thrills!"; "Drug-mad beasts ravage human prey!!!"; "Based upon the famous Jungle Jim King Features Syndicate newspaper feature") starring Johnny Weissmuller (as Jungle Jim), Carol Thurston, Tamba ("The Talented Chimp"), Max Palmer (as the "Man Ape"), and Burt Wenland. In this movie, Jungle Jim encounters a giant "man-ape", who is apparently the result of some weird experiment by a mad scientist (this certainly greatly resembles the "giant people" from "Jungle Jim in the Forbidden Land" made two years earlier), and both sets of creatures greatly resemble the "manimals" from "Island of Lost Souls". In this movie, the title "killer ape" is played by Max Palmer, who was billed as being 8'6" and weighing 450 lbs (but it was standard practice at that time for all "giants" to have one foot added to their height, so he likely measured 7'6", which was still extremely large!). If anyone has seen this movie, and can give us more information about it, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

Artist: Glenn Cravath
Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned two examples of this six-sheet, and the last one sold for $310! Also note that this six-sheet was printed in 4 sections designed to overlap.

Condition: very good to fine. There is some darkening on the back of the part of the poster that was on the outside when it was fully folded, but it has little effect on the front, and otherwise, the poster is in nice condition.
