YOU & ME ('38) 1sh '38

Lease from Hershenson/Allen Archive

An Original Vintage One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh) (Learn More)

You and Me, the 1938 Fritz Lang romantic crime comedy ("The romance of two young ex-convicts!"; "Based on a Story by Norman Krasna"; about two young ex-convicts who meet and fall in love and get married; the woman knows that the man was also a convict, but he does not know that about her; both get jobs at a department store owned by kindly Harry Carey Sr., and they need to keep their marriage secret as well as their criminal past, but then some of the man's old cronies show up and want him to rob the department store, and it is up to his wife to stop them from ruining their life) starring Sylvia Sidney, George Raft, Barton MacLane, Harry Carey Sr., Roscoe Karns, and Robert Cummings. Note that this was Fritz Lang's third U.S. movie after making the ultra depressing "Fury" and "You Only Live Twice", and he tried to change the tone of his movies by making this somewhat of a comedy, but it doesn't really succeed on that level, but it is a very interesting movie about people caught up in situations they can't control.
