An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked International One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Labyrinth, the 1986 George Lucas & Jim Henson English/U.S. Muppet adventure maze fantasy musical thriller ("Jim Henson, George Lucas and David Bowie Take You Into a Dazzling World of Fantasy and Adventure."; "Where everything seems possible and nothing is what it seems."; "A 'mazing tale of never-ending fantasy"; "A spellbinding journey of adventure through a maze of magic, suspense, and fantasy"; "Where anything is possible"; "Story by Dennis Lee and Jim Henson"; "Screenplay by Terry Jones") starring David Bowie (as Jareth, the Goblin King), Jennifer Connelly (in her fourth movie role!), "numerous goblins and creatures", Steve Witmire, Karen Prell, Ron Mueck, Kevin Clash, Shari Weiser, Anthony Asburn, Brian Henson, Frank Oz, Toby Froud, Shelley Thompson, Christopher Malcolm, Natalie Finland, and Warwick Davis NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Steven Chorney Important Added Info: Note that this is a very odd and unusual poster, which we have only auctioned once before, and that was 10 years ago (and it might have even been this exact poster prior to being linenbacked)! It has the same image as the U.S. domestic teaser one-sheet, but it does not have any ratings, so it is surely an international style. However, the domestic teaser has "COMING THIS SUMMER" at the bottom center and "LABYRINTH TEASER 1 SHEET" in the bottom right corner. THIS poster has "FANTASY ADVENTURE IN THE DELPHI FILM PROGRAMS" where the "COMING THIS SUMMER" is on the other poster, and it does not say "teaser" at the bottom. Yet there is a "regular" international one-sheet with a completely different image. So what is this one, and why note the Delphi Film Programs at bottom? If anyone knows more about this, please e-mail us and we will post it here. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair to good. The poster was folded in half an extra time and it had tiny paper loss at some crossfolds and fine surface paper loss on parts of some foldlines (typical of high-gloss posters of this period). Overall, the poster was in good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Also, it appears the linenbacker was careless about gluing the poster to the linen, because it has creases scattered in the bottom and lower right that appear to have been caused when the poster was backed (see our image).
