An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded Thirty by Forty Movie Poster (30x40; measures 29 1/4" x 39 1/2") (Learn More) Bernard Shaw's Saint Joan, the 1957 Otto Preminger historical English/U.S. France biographical melodrama ("For the first time on the screen Otto Preminger presents Bernard Shaw's Saint Joan"; "Screenplay by Graham Greene"; based on the life of the famous French heroine Joan D'Arc, or Joan of Arc as she is also known; adapted from the play by George Bernard Shaw, with a screenplay by Graham Greene) starring Richard Widmark, Richard Todd, Anton Walbrook, John Gielgud, Jean Seberg (in the title role as St. Joan of Arc; in her very first movie role!), Felix Aylmer, Harry Andrews, Barry Jones Finlay Currie, Bernard Miles, Patrick Barr, Kenneth Haigh, Archie Duncan, Margot Grahame, Francis de Wolff, Victor Maddern, David Oxley, Sydney Bromley, and David Langton. Note that director Otto Preminger conducted a major search for the lead actress for this movie, and Jean Seberg was finally selected, and she was only 17 when she won, but was 18 when the movie was filmed! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Saul Bass Important Added Info: Note that we have never seen or heard of this poster before! It apparently is a special poster created by Otto Preminger's production company to post in theaters, advertising that Preminger was looking for an actress to star in his upcoming production of Saint Joan (and he obviously was pretty desperate to go this route instead of traditional casting agencies!). What is especially cool is that the poster has signed Saul Bass art! The poster was likely printed in a 30x40 size, but the example we are offering was slightly trimmed and measures 29 1/4" x 39 1/2". Condition: good. The poster was slightly trimmed on either two or four sides. It has small tears and a few very tiny areas of paper loss around the edges of the poster. There is paper loss at the top crossfold and rough creases and some small tears in the top and bottom 1/4 of the vertical foldline. In the right half of the top and bottom horizontal folds (there is tiny paper loss in those foldlines). There was once a piece of tape in the top left corner in the background area and smaller amounts in the other three corners, and the tape is gone but there are faint tape stains in each of the background areas. Certainly, the poster has real defects, but it is also certainly true that after linenbacking by a talented professional, the poster will look great, and it will not require very much paint restoration!
