Olympia 1936, the 1936 German Olympic Games sports historical illustrated books that were distributed by a cigarette company (similar to cigarette card albums) and detail the 1936 Summer and Winter Olympics held in Berlin, Germany and in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Germany. Because there were so many more events in the Summer Olympics, there is not one book on Summer and one on Winter, but rather one entire book is on Summer, and the other is also partially on Summer. In addition, there is a wonderful section on the history of ALL previous Olympics! Each of the books was created with a dust jacket, one with a wraparound Summer scene and one with a wraparound Winter scene, and with the eagle and swastika emblem prominent in the center of the cover, and both books have the first page past the title page with a large image of Adolf Hitler giving the Nazi salute. The hardcover bindings have printing on the covers and spine. Note that the majority of the photos are "tipped in" (meaning they are literally glued onto the pages one by one), and there are quite a few color ones. It is especially interesting to note that there is a great deal of coverage given to the great American athletes at these games, including Jesse Owens and the other great black African American U.S. members, and also the white American members. These are an amazing visual history of this most important Olympics. See our images to get a sense of how amazing they are (we wish we could have pictured all the pages, but the ones we did picture will certainly give you a good overall sense of both volumes).
NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography.
Important Added Info: Note: We have 27 images of the books in this set, but due to a space limitation, only TEN of the 27 images are displayed above. However, there is a "supersize" link to the right of those images that lets you see the other 17. Note that we have pictured the front cover, the title page, and the interior page that shows the publishing information, and one or more interior 2-page spreads.

Condition: very good to fine. Both of the books have their dust jackets, and it is rare to find these books with the jackets (no doubt because there is a prominent swastika in the center of the dust jacket, so it makes sense that the jackets would have been discarded from surviving examples after World War II ended). One of the books is in the original cardboard box it came in. Both dust jackets have some wear around the edges, but the interiors of both books are in really nice condition. See our many images to get a sense of the condition of both of these books.
