7d317 COUNSELLOR AT LAW LC '33 John Barrymore angrily looks down at anarchist Vincent Sherman!

An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Card (LC; measures 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More)

Counsellor-at-Law, the classic 1933 William Wyler New York City courtroom Jewish lawyer legal melodrama ("John Barrymore in the sensational stage success by Elmer Rice."; about a very hectic day in the life of a poor Jewish man who becomes a lawyer and gets a top Park Avenue law practice; he is almost disbarred, and he discovers his wife is having an affair, but things improve greatly at the climax!) starring John Barrymore (as George Simon), Bebe Daniels (as Rexy, Barrymore's secretary who is in love with him from afar), Doris Kenyon, Onslow Stevens, Isabel Jewell, Melvyn Douglas, Mayo Methot, Thelma Todd, Vincent Sherman (as the anarchist who doesn't want Barrymore to defend him), "and a great cast". Note that the original Broadway play was a major success that starred Paul Muni. However, Hollywood did not want to make the movie with him, because he was not, to their mind, a big enough star, so they went with Barrymore instead, which is ironic, since Muni was Jewish, as the character was, and Barrymore, of course, was not.

Condition: very good to fine. There are some tiny brown dot stains in the top right blank corner, but otherwise, the card is in excellent condition! Note that this lobby card is completely unrestored and there is not a single piece of tape on either the front or back!
