An Original Vintage Theatrical Folded British Quad Movie Poster (BQ; Quad Crown; measures approximately 30" x 40") (Learn More) Holiday Affair, the classic 1949 Don Hartman romantic love triangle Christmas holiday family comedy ("'Baby, you're just what I want for Christmas!'"; "Here's a romantic Yule-tide treat that'll take your heart for a merry sleigh ride - Mitchum playing 'Santa' to a lovely young widow! And wait'll he finds out the mistletoe's loaded!"; "A doll that says 'Yes Darling' That's what Robert Mitchum and Wendell Corey want for Christmas... but Janet Leigh hands them a shock that lasts right through New Year's Eve!"; "Aah, that Mitchum's a softie... Always kissin' girls!"; "...and it's my girl he's kissin'!"; "Mitchum's Latest!"; "It happens in December...but it's hotter than July!"; "Mitchum in a new king of role"; if you want to know what is missing in modern movies, see this one!) starring Robert Mitchum, Janet Leigh, Wendell Corey, Gordon Gebert, Griff Barnett, and Harry Morgan. Note that this film had it's 1949 premiere in New York on November 23rd, and a wide release on December 24th. The plot was a romantic comedy set during the Christmas season, and U.S. movie paper from this first release was lighthearted in nature and featured the tagline "Baby, you're just what I want for Christmas!". However, it did not do very well at the box office, and to recoup their losses, RKO started a new campaign in July of 1950 while the movie was still in it's first release. The new campaign featured the tagline "It happens in December... but it is hotter in July", and the art on posters was sexier with a gritty noir-ish tone. RKO went all out on this new campaign, and created all new posters (by noted Italian poster artist, Mario Zamparelli), including six and twenty-four sheets, lobby cards, inserts, 11x14 stills, and more. Posters from the new campaign are much more rare than the initial campaign! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Kay Important Added Info: Note that this British quad was folded vertically three times and horizontally three times (this being folded one time more than is sometimes done, but it is quite common with British quads, especially older ones). Because of this, this quad can be sent in one of our standard size flat packages (but if it is purchased together with quads that have not been folded in the same way, then it will of course have to be sent in one of our tubes if the other quads are unfolded, or, if it is purchased with other quads that are only folded once horizontally than it can either be sent in an oversized flat package, OR in a tube). But if this quad is purchased by itself (or solely with other quads that have been folded the same way), then the shipping can be lower, because it then fits in a standard package. But please realize that because this poster was folded at one time but has been laying flat for a long time it is likely that the creases have diminished and therefore re-folding the poster will likely bring some of those creases back, but we leave that decision as to whether or not to re-fold the poster up to the individual buyer of this item. UNLESS THE BUYER TELLS US OTHERWISE, THIS QUAD WILL BE SENT ROLLED IN A TUBE. Condition: fair. There were tears and tiny areas of paper loss in the left half of the top two horizontal foldlines, and someone put tape on the back of those areas, and the tape somewhat bleeds through as well.
