A Linenbacked German Advertising Poster (measures 18 3/4" x 28" [48 x 71 cm]) (Learn More) Kersten & Tuteur was a garment store which was founded in 1905 in Berlin by Jacob Tuteur. The store was considered one of the top fashion houses in Berlin until the 1930s and was known for its attractive window displays, which were sometimes considered risque because mannequins were sometimes shown wearing lingerie. Artist Ernst Deutsch was hired for the company's marketing, and he designed advertising that gave an impression of the elegant style available at the store. The Nazis seized the store in 1938 and Jacob Tuteur committed suicide in 1939. Today, the building has been preserved as a historical location.
