An Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Glass Slide (measures 3 1/4" x 4" [8 x 10 cm]) (Learn More) Gambier's Advocate (also released as "Clarissa"), the 1915 James Kirkwood silent romantic love triangle melodrama ("In Motion Pictures"; "Adapted from 'Gambier's Advocate' by Ronald MacDonald"; about a young woman whose father marries a young woman close to her age, and then she sees her father's young wife embracing a lawyer, and she misunderstands and tries to save her father from humiliation by getting the lawyer to propose to her, and they end up falling in love when she learns it was an innocent embrace) starring Hazel Dawn ("The Charming Magnetic Star"; as Clarissa), James Kirkwood (in the title role as "Stephen Gambier"), Fuller Mellish, Dorothy Bernard, Robert Broderick, and Maude Odell. Note that this is one of the earliest movies from Paramount Pictures. It was from before the studio was officially formed, when several independent producers distributed "released their films on the Paramount Program". When they saw that this gave them a competitive advantage, they soon joined together to form Paramount Pictures. Note that this is a "lost" film, which means that no surviving copies are thought to exist. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that glass slides were designed to be put in a special projector that would project the image onto a movie screen (they use exactly the same concept as 35mm slides). This slide is the kind that has two panes of glass that are taped together with black tape around all four edges (front and back), typical of many older glass slides. We have provided a high quality scan of the image, but we have not taken a photo of the slide, because there would really be very little to see! Condition: very good to fine.
