It was based on the radio crime melodrama produced by Samuel Bischoff that aired on NBC and ABC from 1939 to 1952. Unlike the crime comics that inspired it, Mr. District Attorney did not die with the Comic Code, but continued for a number of years, likely because of DC Comics' influence with the Comic Code Authority.
