An Unfolded Special Poster (measures 27" x 41 1/2" [69 x 105 cm]) (Learn More)

Merry Xmas and a Happy New Year, the 1935 holiday poster featuring an image of Shirley Temple sleeping on a chimney while wearing a Santa Claus suit. Note that in 1934, a similar special poster was issued showing a cheerful Shirley Temple sitting on a sled with presents next to her. The title on that poster is the same as this one, and on the ribbon of one of the presents is "The Management". This poster was created the following year, but we really are not sure what was going through the mind of the person who created it, because it has a very somber image, and we are not sure what they were driving at, but it would certainly be a great poster to display in one's home (especially on the night before Christmas)! If anyone knows more about this poster, please e-mail us and we will post it here.

If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know.
Important Added Info: Note that this is an incredibly rare poster! We have seen two examples of the 1934 Shirley Temple Christmas poster, but we have never before seen this poster! A talented restorer gel backed the poster (meaning they backed the poster onto a gel material) and they then performed excellent restoration to the defects described below, and then removed the gel backing, so that the poster still exactly looks and feels like an original poster (and it is!), with no backing at all.

Condition: good to very good. The poster was gel backed (see above). This particular poster had many evenly spaced horizontal creases, with some vertical creases and a few tears along some of the creases. It had tiny paper loss in the top left corner (which was not replaced). Fortunately, there were next to none in Temple's head or hat, but there were some in her suit. There were pinholes in the corners. The poster was gel backed by a talented professional and expert restoration was performed to the above defects. The poster displays well from a reasonable viewing distance, but from close up, you can clearly see the defects and the restoration of the defects. There is a small piece of tape on the back of the middle of the right border that extends past the edge (where the poster was attached to a mat in a frame; of course, it could be easily removed or trimmed).
