A 1947 Re-Release Vintage Theatrical Folded Argentinean Movie Poster (measures 29" x 43 1/4" [74 x 110 cm]) (Learn More) The Private Life of Don Juan, the 1934 Alexander Korda English biographical romantic comedy (a highly fictionalized biography of the most famous historical lover; he is getting old, and his wife wants him back, and she can send him to jail if he refuses, and meanwhile an impostor is posing as him, and when the impostor is killed, the real Don Juan sees it as a chance to disappear and assume a new identity!) starring Douglas Fairbanks Sr. (in the title role as Don Juan), Merle Oberon, Binnie Barnes, Melville Cooper, and Benita Hume (the other women in the cast other than Oberon are billed collectively as "and the beautiful ladies of Henry VIII") NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Artist: Osvaldo Venturi Important Added Info: Note that an advanced collector of Argentinean posters tells us that this poster (and other Argentinean posters from Guaranteed Pictures) are not from 1943, but are actually from the mid-to-late 1940s, and that they are re-releases. The date of 1943 comes from the poster but that is actually part of the company's street address! Apparently, Guaranteed Pictures made a deal to re-release several classic movies in the mid 1940s, and they produced posters for those re-releases with great art by the wonderful Argentinean poster artist, Osvaldo Venturi. Please do not bid on this poster thinking that it is a first release from 1943 as it is a 1947 re-release. Condition: good to very good. The poster has darkened somewhat with age (typical of vintage Argentinean posters). The poster was folded in half an extra time resulting in a vertical crease at left and right and there is some tattering and small paper loss around the edges. The poster is otherwise in generally nice condition and if one chose to have it restored it would display nicely. Learn More about condition grades
