Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: good to very good. The poster was never folded. It had many creases and scuffs in the top right, affecting the "SICAL!" and entering Astaire's hand and the background beneath it. Otherwise, the poster only had a few scuffs scattered in the image and some tiny tears in the rest of the borders, with a 2" tear in the left of the bottom border. Overall, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The restorer backed the poster "in the European style", meaning that they did not do restoration to the defects described above. Note that either the restorer who mounted the poster did not leave any excess linen around the edges of the poster, or possibly the owner of the poster chose to carefully trim off the excess, so that the poster would fit in a frame.
