An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked One-Sheet Movie Poster (measures 27" x 41") (Learn More) Ray Stark's The World of Suzie Wong, the 1960 Richard Quine English/U.S. Oriental Asian interracial romantic prostitution melodrama ("'You are the first man I ever loved... and the world has only just begun...'"; "Screenplay by John Patrick"; based on the novel by Richard Mason; about an American Caucasian man in love with an Asian prostitute that he can't afford) starring William Holden, Nancy Kwan (in the title role "as Suzie Wong"), Sylvia Syms, Michael Wilding, Jacqueline Chan (billed as "Jacqui Chan"), Laurence Naismith, and Yvonne Shima. Note that France Nuyen originated the role of Suzie Wong on Broadway, and was expected to play the part in the movie version, but she purportedly gained weight prior to the movie's filming, and was replaced by Nancy Kwan. This poster was linenbacked, and one of the following is true: either the poster had minor defects, and was well backed, OR it had more significant defects, but they were extremely well restored, OR it had some very minor defects that were not completely restored, and are somewhat noticeable. You can tell which of the above is the case for this particular poster by reading our "pre-restoration" description and also by looking at our "super-sized" image of the actual poster (we are the only major auction company we know of that gives accurate detailed pre-restoration information about linenbacked posters to our bidders, but we wish everyone did!). Note that we gave this condition grade to a very few posters that were in pretty good condition prior to linenbacking, but which were not all that well linenbacked, and which could be fairly easily re-backed with only minor additional restoration. The poster had the most minor of fold wear and pinholes around the edges of the poster. Overall, the poster was in very good to fine condition prior to linenbacking.
