An Original Vintage Theatrical English Movie Pressbook (English pb; measures 12" x 14" [30 x 36 cm]; 16 pages) (Learn More) Saraband for Dead Lovers (released in the U.S. in 1949 as "Saraband"), the 1948 Basil Dearden & Michael Relph English Ealing romantic love triangle historical biographical melodrama ("A flaming spectacle of adventure and romance!"; "Aflame with Excitement..."; "Riotous with Romance..."; "Thrilling in Color!"; "The fiery romance that rocked royalty!"; "Ealing Studios presents their first film in Technicolor"; "A romance that rocked the thrones of kings"; "A royal romance"; "From the novel by Helen Simpson"; set three centuries ago, during the time when several families were vying to be the lead royal family in England, and there is an arranged marriage intended to unite two families, but the would-be bride falls in love with another man, which leads to the tragedy implied by the title) starring Stewart Granger, Francoise Rosay, Joan Greenwood, Flora Robson, Frederick Valk, Anthony Quayle, Michael Gough, and Christopher Lee (very young in this role!). Note that this movie is very highly regarded by almost all critics and those who have seen it, but it does not have the "following" that many other classic British films of this time period have, and that is unfortunate, because it is well worth seeing! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. Important Added Info: Note that this is a "country of origin" item for this English movie! Also note that we have provided an image of the front and back covers of this English pressbook, and of course, the winner of this auction will receive the entire single pressbook we are auctioning (plus any supplements or heralds described above)! Finally, note that this English pressbook is complete and uncut! Given that theater owners purchased pressbooks partly in order to create their newspaper advertising, and quite frequently cut them up for that purpose, it is rare to find a pressbook that IS complete and uncut! Condition: good, NO CUTS. There are many scuffs and smudges and a tape repair on the back cover. There is some wear around the edges of the other pages. Learn More about condition grades
