Date Sold 12/29/2015Sold For: Login or Register to see sold price. 2 Original Vintage Theatrical Movie Lobby Cards (LCs; measure 11" x 14" [28 x 36 cm]) (Learn More) Becky Sharp, the 1935 Rouben Mamoulian & Lowell Sherman (see below) Battle of Waterloo historical melodrama ("The first full-length production stunningly photographed in wondrous new Technicolor"; "Filmed in the wondrous beauty of the new Technicolor"; "Based on Thackeray's 'Vanity Fair'") starring Miriam Hopkins (nominated for the Best Actress Academy Award for this film; in the title role as Becky Sharp), Frances Dee, Cedric Hardwicke, Billie Burke, Nigel Bruce, Alan Mowbray, and G.P. Huntley. Note that this was the first full-length feature filmed in Three-Strip Technicolor! Also note that three weeks after filming began on this movie with Lowell Sherman, he caught pneumonia and died, and Rouben Mamoulian was hired to take over, and he chose to scrap the film shot by Sherman during his three weeks on the job, so it is entirely a Mamoulian directed film, even though Sherman was co-credited (out of respect for his passing).
