A Linenbacked 1969 Commercial Poster (made to be sold directly to the public; measures 25" x 38" [64 x 97 cm]) (Learn More) Assassin of Youth, the 1937 Elmer Clifton marijuana marihuana pot weed drugs thriller ("A Puff, A Party, A Tragedy") starring Luana Walters, Arthur Gardner, Dorothy Short, Earl Dwire, and Fay McKenzie. We are certain that this movie played in the late 1930s and 1940s on a "roadshow" basis, being shown in small towns for one night only, sometimes at midnight shows. The only movie paper we have auctioned has a "roadshow" feel to it, and may well be from a roadshow release. If anyone has ever seen any movie paper they think is definitely from 1937, please e-mail us and we will post it here. Note that in 1968, this movie was recirculated to theaters under the title "The Devil's Joint", with images and taglines partially lifted from the original 1937 poster, and with the added tagline "Not a new problem!!! This film was made in 1937 -- before most of you were born!! Never on T.V." Further note that the IMDb lists "The Devil's Joint" as a 1969 compilation documentary of the 1930s and 1940s drug movies, and it is possible that such a documentary was made the year after the movie was re-released, but it is also possible the documentary was created at any later date. NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that we have only previously auctioned one example of this commercial poster, and it sold for $220! We have only once before auctioned an original 1937 one-sheet, and that was many years ago. This 1969 commercial poster makes for an attractive alternative to that poster, and it will display wonderfully on the new owner's wall. What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: very good. The poster had several horizontal folds, with minor wear on the folds. Overall, the poster was in very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was nicely backed, and displays well! Learn More about condition grades
