An Original Vintage Theatrical Linenbacked Autographed Style B One-Sheet Movie Poster (1sh; measures 27" x 41" [69 x 104 cm]) (Learn More) Mighty Joe Young, the classic 1949 Ernest B. Schoedsack fantasy animal gorilla ape thriller ("Striking! Startling! Staggering!"; "Merian Cooper's amazing adventure in the unusual!"; "Staggering sensation! Electrifying excitement!"; "The ten most terrific thrills ever pictured"; "The cyclonic cavalcade of electrifying sensations that makes your eyes pop out and your heart skip a beat!"; produced by John Ford & Merian C. Cooper; with special effects by Ray Harryhausen, in his first movie, and "Technical Creator Willis O'Brien", creator of King Kong!) starring Terry Moore, Ben Johnson, Robert Armstrong, Frank McHugh, Douglas Fowley, Paul Guilfoyle, Nestor Paiva, and Pat Barton. Note that Ray Harryhausen was sadly not given any credit on the posters for this movie, likely because he was unknown at this time, but Willis O'Brien was credited, no doubt in the hopes that people would remember him from King Kong! NOTE: Click on linked names to see a biography. If you know who did the art (if any), please let us know. Important Added Info: Note that this poster has been personally autographed (signed) by Marcel Delgado! Delgado was the master of stop-motion, who created the model dinosaurs for Willis O'Brien for The Lost World in 1925, but he was Mexican, and he encountered prejudice at First National, and moved to RKO along with O'Brien, where he created the incredible 18" King Kongs used for that movie! O'Brien hired Harryhausen, Delgado and Pete Peterson to work on Mighty Joe Young in 1949. Delgado worked uncredited on special effects for many other movies, and he passed away in 1976. This poster was autographed by him in 1972 (the inscription reads "Sincerely yours, Marcel Delgado 7-17-72". What IS linenbacking? Learn More Overall Condition and Pre-Restoration Defects with Quality of Restoration: fair. The poster was displayed on a wall for many years and it has significantly faded. All of the reds in the poster have changed to either a pinkish color or a yellowish color (depending on how it originally looked). Otherwise, the poster had small paper loss at the crossfolds, creases, tears, separations, and small paper loss on parts of several foldlines, and some pinholes and tears around the edges. Prior to fading, the poster was in good to very good condition prior to linenbacking. The poster was likely well backed originally, but now that it has faded, you can see the restoration paint (because it did not fade in the way the poster did), especially in the restoration around the bottom crossfold. Also, the autograph from Marcel Delgado has significantly faded. You can clearly read it, but it is surely quite a bit lighter than it originally was. Please do not bid on this poster unless you can accept the unusual defects this poster has. Learn More about condition grades
